LGE Design Build Establishes East Coast Hub in Tampa, Signaling Growth and Opportunity
TAMPA, FL — LGE Design Build, a prominent national design-build construction firm, is making a significant move to solidify its presence on the East Coast by establishing a new hub in Tampa. With nearly 500,000 square feet of logistics development already awarded, the firm is demonstrating its confidence in the region’s robust industrial fundamentals and promising long-term growth potential.
Why Tampa, and Why Now?
Florida has been experiencing a surge in population and business migration, but Tampa stands out as a beacon of opportunity. The city boasts low industrial vacancy rates and a scarcity of modern Class A spaces, making it an ideal environment for LGE’s design-build model.
“Florida continues to experience some of the strongest population and business in-migration in the country,” said Mike Stafford, president of LGE Design Build. “Tampa, in particular, has been one of the fastest-growing metro areas for young professionals, logistics companies, and corporate relocations.”
The demand for modern industrial facilities, especially in logistics, defense, aerospace, and e-commerce sectors, has outpaced supply, reinforcing LGE’s decision to establish a permanent foothold in the area.
Integrating into the National Footprint
LGE views its Tampa hub as a complementary extension of its existing operations in Phoenix and Dallas, rather than a departure from them. Many of the firm’s clients operate across multiple states, including Florida, making this expansion a strategic move to deepen long-standing relationships.
“Entering Tampa allows LGE to follow existing clients and support their growth,” Stafford explained. “Many corporations we already serve in Arizona and Texas have multi-state footprints, including Florida.”
Building a Local Team
Central to LGE’s strategy in Tampa is the emphasis on local leadership and in-market execution. The firm has already appointed a Director of Field Operations and a Director of Project Management, both with prior experience within LGE’s system. Initial hiring will focus on project superintendents and engineering support roles, prioritizing on-site leadership.
“Our philosophy is centered on having a local team in the market leading our work,” Stafford stated.
A Growing Talent Advantage
Tampa’s labor market played a crucial role in LGE’s decision to set up shop in the area. Compared to other Florida metros, Tampa offers a deeper pool of construction labor, architecture, engineering talent, and project management professionals.
“Tampa has a growing pool of construction, architecture, and engineering talent,” Stafford noted. “That makes scaling an operation more feasible than in more constrained Florida markets.”
Upholding the LGE Standard
LGE leaders emphasize that their expansion into Florida is not about reinventing the wheel. Every project in Tampa will adhere to the same high standards of craftsmanship, transparency, and disciplined execution that have defined the firm’s reputation in the Southwest.
“We aren’t simply expanding geographically,” Stafford said. “We’re extending the LGE standard.”
Seizing Opportunities in Logistics
LGE sees its most significant near-term opportunities in logistics-driven development, particularly projects tied to e-commerce, defense, and aerospace. The ongoing corporate relocations into Tampa Bay further bolster the firm’s optimism about the region.
“As noted above, we see the most significant opportunities in e-commerce and logistics space, including defense and aerospace,” Stafford added.
Technology as a Game Changer
Technology plays a pivotal role in LGE’s design-build process. Advanced design modeling, digital permitting workflows, and real-time construction management tools enable the firm to reduce rework, shorten schedules, and deliver greater cost certainty.
“Technology allows LGE to deliver a more predictable, efficient, and cost-accurate experience than traditional builders,” Stafford explained.
What’s Already Underway
As LGE builds out its Tampa operation, nearly 500,000 square feet of logistics development is already under construction, with additional projects in the pipeline.
“We’re excited about the momentum we’re seeing in the Tampa market,” Stafford said. “As we enter Florida, we have nearly 500,000 square feet of logistics development construction already awarded, with more in the pipeline.”
For LGE Design Build, Tampa is no longer just an entry point; it is an operational market anchored by active projects and a long-term commitment to growth.
