Status of Local Airports, Attractions, and Theme Parks in Tampa Bay After Hurricane Milton
After Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc on the greater Tampa Bay area, residents and visitors are left wondering about the status of local airports, attractions, and theme parks. Some have already reopened to the public, while others are still assessing the damage and planning for a longer recovery period.
The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in Bradenton remains closed, while Busch Gardens Tampa will be closed on Friday and Saturday, with Howl-O-Scream also canceled. The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg sustained minor damage but will reopen on Saturday for regular hours. The Florida Aquarium in Tampa will remain closed through the weekend, and the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota are closed until further notice.
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota, the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, and The Ringling museum in Sarasota are also closed until further notice. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport will be closed to flights and passengers until Wednesday at 9 a.m. due to extensive damage to the terminal.
On the other hand, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will resume flights and reopen businesses on Saturday. The Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa is closed through Sunday, with performances of “The Boy Who Loved Batman” canceled. The facility is expected to reopen on Monday.
Tampa International Airport resumed flights on Friday at 8 a.m., and the Tampa Museum of Art will reopen on Saturday at 10 a.m. However, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota has canceled all shows through December due to damage caused by 4 feet of storm surge, with a planned reopening on January 1st.
