Among those intrigued is Nikki Cheong, a resident of Temple Terrace, Florida, who claims to have been experiencing similar disturbances since 2017.
In an exclusive interview with Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean, Cheong expressed her astonishment upon discovering the story. “I thought this was quite interesting. We’ve been experiencing this in Temple Terrace since 2017,” she said.
Cheong, who watched the report alongside Webster resident Joell Calcagno, shared that her home has been rattled by these explosive noises, which have occurred at all hours, including midnight and 2 a.m. “It sounds like something exploding,” Calcagno noted, reflecting the shared confusion and concern among those affected.
The sounds have not only disrupted lives but also sparked a flurry of theories. Brean has received insights from various sources, including a Midwest resident who suspects the noises may be linked to fracking activities. In Webster, locals have speculated everything from car backfires to underground tunnels as potential causes.
Brean explored the possibility of the sounds being related to the Seneca Drums phenomenon, where gas bubbles in Seneca Lake create explosive noises. However, the Department of Environmental Conservation reported no unusual sounds in the area, leaving many questions unanswered.
Calcagno voiced her frustration, stating, “It makes me nervous. I’m concerned. What is causing it? And nobody knows.” Similarly, Cheong echoed her sentiments, admitting, “It is frustrating.”
Both women have taken to social media to document their experiences, with Cheong sharing videos in her neighborhood Facebook group that capture the explosive sounds, often coinciding with flashes of light. “When you heard the sounds that happened in Webster, did it sound similar to what you experienced?” Brean asked Cheong, to which she replied, “It is exactly the same sound. It actually sounds like what a bomb sounds like when being exploded.”
