Juneteenth Events in the Greater Tampa Bay Region

Juneteenth, the annual celebration of the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States, is being commemorated in a variety of events across the greater Tampa Bay region. This year, Juneteenth holds special significance as it became recognized as a federal holiday in 2021.

From flag raising ceremonies to music festivals and community events, there is something for everyone to participate in and enjoy. The celebrations kick off on Friday, June 14 with events such as the Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony and Festival in Tampa, the Juneteenth Kickoff Mixer in St. Petersburg, and St. Pete Pride’s Shades of Pride Juneteenth Celebration.

On Saturday, June 15, the festivities continue with events like Gulfport’s Celebrate Juneteenth, the Juneteenth Cultural Celebration at the Tampa Museum of Art, and the Juneteenth Festival at Raymond James Stadium. There will also be a Juneteenth Hair and Fashion Gala in Spring Hill and a Juneteenth Color and Sip Social in Tampa.

Sunday, June 16 offers even more opportunities to celebrate, with events like the Juneteenth 5K CommUnity Walk/Run in Tampa, the Good Stock out of St. Pete Juneteenth Festival in St. Petersburg, and the Juneteenth Arts Festival presented by the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota.

As the week continues, there will be additional events leading up to the official Juneteenth holiday on Wednesday, June 19. These include the Sankofa Juneteenth Freedom Festival in Tampa, the Juneteenth Community Event at Ragan Park, and the Juneteenth Summer Block Party at Perry Harvey Park.
