Uber Driver Held at Gunpoint: Suspect Arrested in Dundee Incident

DUNDEE, Fla. – Uber Driver Held at Gunpoint in Shocking Incident

In a harrowing early morning incident, Polk County deputies have apprehended a man accused of forcing an Uber driver to drive him to Dundee at gunpoint. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Jamarcus Fowler, was arrested on Monday following a dramatic series of events that unfolded after the driver picked him up from the Alibi Gentlemen’s Club in Tampa.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the ordeal began around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday when the Uber driver, feeling threatened, managed to call 911. He reported that Fowler had brandished a firearm and ordered him to drive to Dundee. Before reaching their destination, the suspect made the driver stop at Salem’s restaurant in Winter Haven, where he ordered food at the drive-thru.

Once they arrived in Dundee, Fowler instructed the driver to stop near Spring Creek Road and LynRock Avenue. He then ordered the driver to count to ten before fleeing the scene. It was at this moment that the victim seized the opportunity to alert law enforcement.

Investigators quickly identified Fowler, who lives just a street away from where he exited the Uber. Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, deputies located and arrested him on charges of armed kidnapping, armed burglary, and aggravated assault.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with additional information about the incident or Fowler’s whereabouts to reach out at (863) 298-6200. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-888-400-TIPS or visit their website.
