The penthouse, part of the SkyView complex, was originally envisioned by millionaire Scientologist Moises Agami as a more affordable housing option. However, plans shifted, and it became home to Cruise’s opulent residence. The proximity to the Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is one of the most prominent members, was undoubtedly a significant factor in his decision to settle in Clearwater.

In a statement, the Church of Scientology emphasized its preparedness for Hurricane Milton, noting that they had taken extensive measures to secure their properties and the safety of their parishioners. “We are taking Hurricane Milton very seriously and have completed all preparations to secure our staff, parishioners, and neighbors,” the organization stated prior to the storm.

While Cruise’s penthouse and the Scientology headquarters emerged from the hurricane without damage, many residents in Clearwater were not as fortunate. Reports of flooding and rescues from inundated apartments highlighted the storm’s impact on the community.
