Mayors Neighborhood University Housing Fair Helps Tampa Residents Find Resources for First-Time Homeownership

The Mayor’s Neighborhood University in Tampa is making strides in helping residents achieve their dream of homeownership. A recent housing fair held at the City Center at Hanna Avenue brought together over 120 people eager to learn about resources available to first-time homebuyers.

Andreshia Perry, a real estate professional and advocate for homeownership, shared her personal journey of overcoming obstacles to become a homeowner. She emphasized the importance of educating the community on the steps needed to achieve homeownership and build a stable foundation for their families.

Residents at the housing fair had the opportunity to explore programs such as down payment assistance, Tampa Homeless Outreach, and the Healthy Homes Program. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor also highlighted the significance of affordable housing and the city’s commitment to providing resources to support residents in their homeownership journey.

Perry’s message of empowerment resonated with attendees, as she encouraged them to take advantage of the resources available and strive towards homeownership. With a little more knowledge and support, Perry believes that more residents will be able to unlock the doors to their forever homes.

For those who missed the housing fair, the Housing and Community Development Team hosts an annual housing fair in September, providing another opportunity for residents to learn about resources and programs available to support their homeownership goals.
