TAMPA, Fla. — The vibrant streets of Ybor City will come alive on Saturday, March 29, as the Tampa Pride Diversity Parade takes center stage, honoring those who are making a significant impact in the local LGBTQ+ community. This year, the parade will feature Anne-Marie Hoeck as the grand marshal, a dedicated ally and the state chapter leader of Free Mom Hugs Florida.
Hoeck, who recently shared her insights with ABC Action News anchor Lauren St. German, leads a nonprofit organization committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community through visibility, education, and heartfelt conversations. With over 39,000 volunteers across all 50 states, Free Mom Hugs aims to create a network of acceptance and love.
“We often hear from individuals who lack accepting family members or have faced rejection,” Hoeck explained. “Just a simple hug or high five can provide a moment of acceptance that means the world to them. It’s those brief interactions that they carry with them long after.”

Annette Irizarry, who had planned her daughter’s quinceañera for August at the Clearwater location, expressed her frustration, stating, “We’ve struggled so hard to scrape the money to be able to do this for her. She’s my only girl, and I wanted this so much for her.”
Irizarry is now facing the daunting task of finding an alternative venue, a challenge made even more difficult by the loss of the $6,160 she had already paid.
