Man arrested for tackling 11-year-old girl he believed was throwing eggs at his home, CNN reports

A man in Tampa, Florida, was arrested last week for tackling an 11-year-old girl he believed was throwing eggs at his home. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office condemned the behavior as “unacceptable” and “reprehensible.” Video footage captured the man, identified as Marius Mutu, pinning down the child as she screamed for help, insisting she had done nothing wrong.

Neighbors intervened, urging Mutu to release the girl, who was heard pleading for help in the video. Mutu claimed he was trying to take a photo of the child to report the incident to apartment management. He was charged with battery and false imprisonment.

Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the importance of protecting children and holding those who harm them accountable. Mutu was released on bond, but it remains unclear if he has legal representation. CNN has reached out to Mutu for comment on the incident.
