Under the leadership of CEO John Couris, who took the helm eight years ago, TGH has transformed from a single hospital with 17 locations to a robust network of eight hospitals and over 150 sites across Florida. This partnership fuels clinical research and paves the way for groundbreaking treatments.

In 2023, TGH made headlines by acquiring three hospitals in Citrus and Hernando County, rebranding them as TGH North. Additionally, a partnership with Palm Beach County aims to enhance care at Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade. These initiatives not only expand TGH’s reach but also ensure that patients benefit from the extensive expertise within the TGH and USF Health network.

A significant aspect of TGH’s strategy is its commitment to technology and innovation. The hospital has partnered with Palantir Technologies to leverage artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, resulting in measurable improvements in patient outcomes. Their collaborative efforts have led to the creation of a comprehensive Sepsis Hub, which has saved over 700 lives by identifying high-risk patients and facilitating earlier clinical interventions. Notably, the partnership has achieved a 30% improvement in MRI imaging turnaround time and an 83% reduction in patient placement time.

Couris attributes much of TGH’s success to its dedicated team. His focus on recruiting top talent and fostering a culture of trust has been pivotal. “When you treat people with authenticity, kindness, transparency, and vulnerability, really interesting things happen,” he remarked. This approach has allowed the organization to adapt and innovate, even in the face of industry challenges.
