The incident unfolded on August 31, just after 7 a.m., when Baker was driving her Route 12 bus. Spotting the little boy, dressed in pajamas and alone, she immediately stopped the bus. “Oh my God,” she exclaimed in disbelief, as captured in video footage released by the Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART). “Look at the baby out there by himself.”

Without hesitation, Baker exited the bus and approached the child, who had wandered more than two blocks from his home. “Come here, baby,” she gently called out, scooping him up as he made his way to the side of the road.

Unable to communicate where he lived, Baker took the boy back to the bus, reassuring him as she called HART operations for assistance. “Give me one second, please,” she told her passengers, who watched the scene unfold with concern.
