2024 Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival: Celebrating Health and Community in St. Petersburg
The Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival is back for its eighth year, bringing together visitors and performers for a day of celebration and community engagement. The festival, which aims to address health disparities in underserved communities, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Woodson Museum in St. Petersburg.
Co-founded by Boyzell Hosey and Samantha Harris, the festival features a collard greens cook-off, live entertainment, a family zone, a book fair, and live workouts. This year’s event, held during Black History Month, promises to be a fun and educational experience for all attendees.
In addition to the festival, TBCGF Inc. is hosting other events leading up to the main celebration. The “I Love Greens 5K & Fitness Extravaganza” will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9 at England Brothers Park in Pinellas Park, while the “Collards After Dark” fundraiser event will take place on Friday, Feb. 14 at Studio 620 in St. Petersburg.
These events serve as the organization’s largest fundraisers of the year, helping to raise awareness about healthier living and the impact of heart disease and stroke in the African American community.
