Severe Thunderstorms and Potential Flooding Forecasted for Tampa Bay Area

Severe weather hit the Tampa Bay area on Tuesday, with gusty winds causing damage at a mobile home park in Largo. Residents at Pointe West Mobile Home Park were left cleaning up debris and assessing the destruction after roofs were torn off and debris was scattered throughout the area.

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of over 60 mph in some areas, with nearly two dozen mobile homes damaged at the park. Photos shared on social media showed the extent of the damage, with roofs and car awnings destroyed by the strong winds.

As residents began to clean up the mess left behind by the storm, forecasters warned of more severe weather on the way. Much of Florida, including the Tampa Bay area, remained under a threat of severe thunderstorms through Wednesday, with the possibility of strong winds and even a tornado.

The Storm Prediction Center classified the risk as “slight,” the second level on a scale of severity. Forecasters advised residents to stay indoors and remain hydrated, as heat indices were expected to soar above 100 degrees in some areas.

More showers and thunderstorms were expected to hit the region, with a 70% chance of rain forecasted for Wednesday. The weather service warned of possible flooding in low-lying areas and advised residents to take precautions to stay safe during the severe weather. Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops.
