Tampa Bay Buccaneers Make Roster Moves Ahead of Crucial Matchup Against Saints
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gearing up for a crucial matchup against the New Orleans Saints with their playoff hopes hanging in the balance. In preparation for this pivotal game, the Bucs have made some significant roster moves.
Last week, the team added outside linebacker Shaq Barrett to the roster after he was released by the Miami Dolphins. They also activated safety Jordan Whitehead and wide receiver Kam Johnson from injured reserve, as well as promoting punter Jack Browning from the practice squad to the active roster.
In order to make room for these additions, the Bucs had to part ways with several players. Linebackers Antonio Grier Jr and Vi Jones, along with defensive lineman Ernest Brown, were waived from the team. While Jones was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Cardinals, Brown and Grier Jr went unclaimed.
However, the Bucs didn’t say goodbye to Brown for long, as they announced on Tuesday that they had brought him back to the practice squad. But their reunion was short-lived, as it was reported on Wednesday that the Dallas Cowboys are signing Brown to their active roster.
To fill the void left by Brown on the practice squad, the Bucs signed rookie offensive tackle Garret Greenfield. The South Dakota State alum has previous experience with the Giants and Seahawks this season.
With the Buccaneers set to face off against the Saints on Sunday, the NFC South title is on the line for Tampa Bay. Stay tuned to BucsGameday for more coverage of the team throughout the 2024 season.
