Leah was enjoying a day in the water with her mother, Nadia, and her two younger siblings, aged one and three, when the attack happened. Leah was airlifted to a hospital in Tampa, where she underwent a lengthy surgery aimed at saving her wrist and fingers. In a statement to ABC News, the Lendel family expressed their gratitude, revealing that doctors were able to restore blood flow to Leah’s hand. "This is truly a miracle," Nadia shared on Instagram, where she has a following of nearly 98,000.
Despite the traumatic experience, Leah displayed remarkable composure. A video recorded at the scene shows a paramedic asking her how she was doing and what grade she was going into. "I’m going into fourth grade," she calmly replied, astonishing those around her.
