Burglaries Targeting Professional Athletes Rocked the 2024-25 NFL Season

The 2024-25 NFL season was marred by a series of burglaries targeting multiple professional athletes across different sports. Among the victims were Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The crime spree also extended to the NBA and NHL, with Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and an unnamed Memphis Grizzlies player falling victim to the burglaries.

According to a complaint filed in the Middle District of Florida, an unnamed Tampa Bay Buccaneers player was also targeted during the crime spree. The burglary took place during the Buccaneers’ game against the Baltimore Ravens, with $167K worth of property stolen, including designer watches, jewelry, and a gun.

The suspects, identified as seven Chilean nationals, are facing federal charges and could potentially serve at least ten years in prison if convicted. The group allegedly stole significant amounts of money and property from the athletes, with Burrow losing $300K, the Grizzlies player losing about $1 million, and Portis losing about $1.5 million.
