Gov. Ron DeSantis Pushes for Florida Version of DOGE Task Force to Increase Government Efficiency

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is pushing for the creation of a Florida Department of Government Efficiency (FLOGE) to increase government efficiency in the state. The announcement was made during a press conference at The Vault in Tampa, where DeSantis emphasized the importance of responsible stewardship of tax dollars.

The proposed bill, sponsored by State Rep. Tiffany Esposito, aims to give lawmakers more control over state agency rules and spending. If passed, the bill would include expanded legislative oversight, a cost-benefit analysis of new regulations, an eight-year expiration date for outdated rules, and increased transparency in agency rule-making.

DeSantis highlighted Florida’s track record of fiscally conservative governance and expressed his commitment to making the government as efficient and effective as possible. The move comes as the federal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) looks to cut more federal jobs, with President Donald Trump urging tech billionaire Elon Musk to find cost-cutting solutions.

However, not everyone is on board with DeSantis’ proposal. Rep. Anna Eskamani criticized the governor’s track record on government efficiency, citing wasteful spending and partisan electioneering. DeSantis also addressed speculation about his successor, taking a swipe at Rep. Byron Donalds and hinting at the possibility of his wife, Casey DeSantis, running for governor.

As the debate over government efficiency continues, the creation of a Florida DOGE could have far-reaching implications for the state’s governance and fiscal responsibility. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
