Florida Division of Emergency Management Announces Shuttle System for Evacuation Zones
The Florida Division of Emergency Management has announced a new shuttle system for residents in evacuation zones to help them get to shelters safely. This service is especially important as Hurricane Milton approaches the Tampa Bay area.
Residents in need of assistance can call 800-729-3413 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to arrange for transportation to a shelter. The Hurricane Evacuation Charter Bus Schedule for October 8 has been provided by the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
In Pinellas County, there are multiple buses available to transport residents to shelters. Bus #1 will make stops at St Pete Beach Community Center, Winn-Dixie in Madeira Beach, and the Church of the Isles parking lot in Indian Rocks Beach. Other buses will serve Clearwater Beach, North Pinellas County, Central Pinellas County, and Southern Pinellas County.
Pasco County residents can also take advantage of the shuttle system, with buses serving West Pasco County, Central Pasco County, and East Pasco County.
Hillsborough County residents have several options as well, with buses serving Northwest Hillsborough/Tampa, the City of Tampa, South-Central Hillsborough County, and Eastern Hillsborough County.
It is crucial for residents in evacuation zones to stay informed and take necessary precautions as Hurricane Milton approaches. Check the link provided to see if an evacuation order is in place in your county and make use of the shuttle system if needed. Stay safe and be prepared.
