Escape Homes, a tiny-home builder, has created a unique community of tiny homes near Tampa, Florida, called Escape Tampa Bay The Oaks. The neighborhood consists of 33 tiny homes, with prices ranging from about $95,000 to $160,000. However, there is only one unit left for sale, priced at $249,550.

The community offers homes under 400 square feet, a pool, and a park, making it an attractive option for those looking to downsize or live a minimalist lifestyle. The homes are built by Escape Homes, a Wisconsin-based company specializing in modern tiny homes on wheels with all the amenities of a typical home.

Reservations for the homes opened about four months ago, and the demand was so high that almost all of the homes were sold out within two months. The first few residents have already moved in, coming from various backgrounds and locations, including Oregon, California, Washington, DC, and Virginia.

The community is located near the University of South Florida, Tampa International Airport, and Walt Disney World Resort, making it a convenient location for residents. The homes are certified RVs, meaning they can be financed and easily moved if needed.

While about 20% of the units are being used as rentals, owners are not allowed to use their units as short-term rentals on platforms like Airbnb or Vrbo. The community offers shared spaces such as a pool, a miniature “Central Park,” a community office, and additional storage.

Escape Homes aims to provide affordable housing in the face of rising rent prices in Tampa, offering a fast alternative housing option for those in need. The remaining unit in the community, the “N1” on lot 26, is the most expensive at $249,550, with a monthly lot fee between $575 to $725 on top of the purchase price. Residents who are renting generally pay between $1,450 to $1,650 a month.
