My Shade and Texture Expands Reach for Major Event in Tampa

My Shade and Texture, a community-focused hair and body care store in northeast Tampa, is gearing up for a major event that will bring in new customers and opportunities for growth. The owner, Pamela Thompson, shared that they have been working hard for five years to provide unique products and a sustainable shopping experience for their customers.

Next week, the store is set to welcome attendees of the 84th Grand Conclave of the Pi Iota chapter of Omega Psi Phi Inc., a historic Black fraternity. With about 25,000 people expected to attend the convention from June 26th to July 2nd, the economic impact on the local community is significant. The President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay, Santiago Corrada, estimated that the event could bring in $25 to $30 million in direct spending.

However, the fraternity is also focused on giving back to the community and supporting small Black businesses like My Shade and Texture. They have created a special directory featuring these businesses to help direct customers their way and ensure that they benefit from the influx of visitors.

Thompson expressed her excitement about the upcoming event and the potential for increased support for her store. With the help of the fraternity and their commitment to community engagement, My Shade and Texture is poised to thrive and continue building connections within the northeast Tampa area.
