Tampa Bay Promotes Josh Grizzard to Offensive Coordinator After Liam Coen’s Departure

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially moved on from their former offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, after he left to become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his place, the Bucs have promoted this season’s pass game coordinator, Josh Grizzard, to take over as the new offensive coordinator.

Under Coen’s leadership in 2024, the Bucs’ offense thrived, ranking among the best in the league in various categories despite facing challenges like the absence of star wide receiver Chris Godwin for part of the season. Quarterback Baker Mayfield excelled under Coen’s play-calling, and even veteran receiver Mike Evans reached the 1,000-yard mark once again.

While some may have concerns about the transition to a new offensive coordinator, Mike Evans expressed confidence in Grizzard’s abilities. Evans emphasized that his job is to get open and catch passes, regardless of who is calling the plays. However, he does hope that Grizzard will continue to prioritize him in the offense, as previous coordinators have done.

Grizzard, who previously served as the pass game coordinator under Coen, played a significant role in the team’s success on offense, particularly on third downs. With innovative ideas and a commitment to maintaining the offensive continuity, Grizzard is expected to lead the Buccaneers’ offense to continued success in the upcoming season.

As the Bucs prepare for the 2025 season, fans can expect to see a seamless transition under Grizzard’s leadership. Stay tuned to BucsGameday for more coverage of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their new offensive coordinator.
