Mike Evans Continues to Make History: From Texas A&M Star to Buccaneers Icon
Mike Evans, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers icon, continues to make history in the NFL. Last week, the 31-year-old wide receiver secured his 11th-straight season with at least 1,000 yards, tying the legendary Jerry Rice for the longest such streak in NFL history. To honor this remarkable achievement, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared Jan. 10 as “Mike Evans Day” state-wide.
This week, Evans added another milestone to his impressive career. During Sunday night’s playoff game against the Washington Commanders, Evans caught a one-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield, tying the game at 10 going into halftime. In doing so, he became the Bucs’ all-time leader in postseason points scored for a non-kicker with 38 points.
Despite his outstanding performance, including seven receptions for 92 yards and the touchdown, Evans and the Buccaneers fell short as the Commanders secured a 23-20 victory with a 37-yard field goal by Zane Gonzalez as time expired. This marked Washington’s first playoff win since 2005.
From his days as a standout player at Texas A&M to his current success in the NFL, Mike Evans continues to impress fans and make history on the football field. While the season may have ended sooner than he would have liked, there is no doubt that the veteran wideout will be back stronger than ever.
