Tampa Bay Area Athletes Shine in 2024 Paris Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympics are in full swing, and Tampa Bay area athletes are making their mark on the world stage. FOX 13’s Matthew McClellan highlighted the impressive representation from our area in this year’s games.

USF leads the way with six athletes competing in various events, including Zahria Allers-Liburd, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Katie Kitching, Bethy Mununga, Evelyn Viens, and Romaine Beckford. These talented individuals are proudly representing their countries and alma mater on the Olympic stage.

Former Florida Gator and East Lake High School alum Parker Valby is another standout athlete to watch. After an impressive senior season, Valby secured a spot on the U.S. Olympic team and will be competing in the 10,000m race in Paris.

Clearwater native Bobby Finke, a Florida Gator, will be defending his two gold medals from the 2020 Games in swimming. Danielle Collins, a tennis star ranked No. 9 in the world, is set to compete in the women’s singles event.

Gymnasts Brody Malone and Steve Nedoroscik, along with Shane Wiskus as a traveling alternate, will be representing the United States in team qualifications. Noah Lyons, a Clearwater native and USF alum, will be competing in the IQFoil sailing event.

Other notable athletes from the Tampa Bay area and Florida include Nelly Korda, Emma Weyant, Victor Montalvo, Erriyon Knighton, Kamren Larsen, and Kyle Dagostino. These talented individuals are making their communities proud as they compete on the world’s biggest stage.
