Keely McCormick, the morning reporter at ABC Action News, is making waves in the Tampa Bay community with her passion for local journalism and dedication to telling impactful stories. Originally from Oregon, Keely made the move to Florida in 2022 to join Good Morning Tampa Bay, where she has quickly become a familiar face to viewers.

During her time in Oregon, Keely reported extensively on the historic 2020 wildfires, shedding light on the devastating impact on communities and the region’s humanitarian crisis. Her commitment to telling people-centered stories has been a defining feature of her career, and she continues to bring that same dedication to her work in Tampa Bay.

From a young age, Keely knew she was meant for a career in TV news, starting with conducting fake “newscasts” with a hairbrush microphone as an 8-year-old. Her passion for storytelling only grew as she pursued a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Business at the University of Kansas, where she also cheered for the Jayhawks. Keely’s journalism journey took her abroad to London for an internship, further shaping her skills and perspective.

Now settled in the Sunshine State, Keely is focused on covering the issues that matter most to the Tampa Bay community. Whether it’s local government, housing market trends, traffic issues, or community concerns, Keely is dedicated to telling stories that resonate with viewers and showcase the incredible people in the Bay area.

Outside of work, Keely stays active by teaching fitness classes, running along Bayshore Boulevard, enjoying the beach, and exploring Tampa’s vibrant culinary scene. Her energy and enthusiasm for both her work and her community make her a valuable asset to ABC Action News and a trusted source for local news in Tampa Bay.
