DeSantis Reappoints Key Members to Tampa Port Authority Governing Board
Tampa, FL — In a move aimed at bolstering leadership continuity, Governor Ron DeSantis has reappointed five influential members to the Tampa Port Authority Governing Board, ensuring that experienced voices guide the port’s strategic direction.
Among the reappointments are Chad Harrod, who serves as the Board Chair, Ted Connor, the Vice Chair, and Patrick Allman, the Secretary. Their extensive tenures on the Board have established a solid foundation for the port’s operations and future growth.
Chad Harrod, appointed by DeSantis in 2019, is the CEO of Harrod Properties and Harrod Healthcare Real Estate. His leadership extends beyond the Board; he is actively involved with the Young Presidents’ Organization and serves as Vice Chair for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Harrod holds a degree from the University of Texas.
Ted Connor, also a DeSantis appointee from 2019, brings legal expertise as the Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company. His commitment to the industry is reflected in his roles with the American Land Title Association and the Florida Land Title Association. Connor earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
Patrick Allman, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, has been a longstanding member of the Board. As the General Manager of Odyssey Manufacturing Company, he combines military discipline with business acumen. Allman holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Tampa.
In addition to the reappointments, DeSantis has appointed Christopher Carrere and Mark Kaplan to fill existing vacancies. Carrere, a yacht broker with Galati Yacht Sales, is also involved with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and holds a degree in economics from the University of the South, Sewanee. Kaplan, a retired executive, previously served as Vice President of Government and Community Relations at the University of Florida and as Chief of Staff for former Governor Jeb Bush. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Florida State University.
These appointments reflect DeSantis’s commitment to maintaining a strong leadership team at the Tampa Port Authority, which plays a critical role in the region’s economic development. All appointments are subject to Senate confirmation, paving the way for a potentially transformative period for the port.
As the Tampa Port Authority continues to navigate the complexities of maritime commerce, the experience and dedication of its Board members will be crucial in steering the port toward future successes.
