Meet Genevieve: Your New Storyteller in the Sunshine State!
Tampa Welcomes EMMY-Winning Journalist Genevieve Curtis to the Sunshine State
TAMPA, FL — The Sunshine State has a new voice in journalism, and she’s ready to tell your stories! Genevieve Curtis, an EMMY-winning journalist, has officially made Tampa her home, trading in the Milwaukee winters for Florida sunshine.
Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Genevieve often visited Florida, dreaming of the day she could call it home. Now, after graduating cum laude from The University of Missouri with a degree in broadcast journalism, she’s thrilled to embark on this new chapter in her career.
Before arriving in Tampa, Genevieve spent five impactful years in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as an anchor and reporter. Her investigative prowess led to significant changes in state law, including a groundbreaking story on a state-wide autopsy backlog. One of her standout achievements was a five-part series produced while embedded with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which earned her an EMMY nomination.
Genevieve’s accolades don’t stop there. With a total of 10 EMMY nominations and an EMMY win under her belt, she has tackled a range of topics from cold cases to affordable housing issues, and even breaking news during the 2020 protests.
Her journey in journalism began in El Paso, Texas, where she honed her investigative skills as the chief investigative reporter. During her seven years on the U.S.-Mexico border, she covered complex immigration issues and embedded with U.S. Border Patrol. Her work led to changes in three Texas state laws, and she even produced a documentary series following civilians through the police academy.
A career highlight for Genevieve was covering Pope Francis during his visit to Juarez, Mexico, an experience she cherishes deeply.
Outside of her professional life, Genevieve is passionate about community service. She has served on the board of an organization dedicated to helping children in crisis and those aging out of foster care. When she’s not chasing down stories, you can find her enjoying time with her husky, Skye, or on her Peloton, exploring new brunch spots, or planning her next adventure.
Genevieve is also excited to support the local sports scene, especially as she cheers on the Eckerd Women’s Soccer team, where her fiancée is the head coach. The couple looks forward to spending weekends soaking up the sun at St. Pete’s beautiful beaches.
Genevieve is eager to connect with the Tampa community and invites anyone with a story to share to reach out. You can contact her via email at Genevieve.Curtis@fox.com or follow her on social media at Twitter and Facebook.
As she settles into her new role, Genevieve Curtis is ready to shine a light on the stories that matter most to the people of Tampa. Welcome to Florida, Genevieve!
