The festivities kick off with the Children’s Gasparilla on January 24, followed by the main event, the Gasparilla Pirate Fest, on January 31.
This beloved annual celebration, steeped in the lore of the legendary 18th-century pirate José Gaspar, promises a treasure trove of activities for all ages. The festival is free to the public, making it an accessible adventure for families and pirate enthusiasts alike.
A Weekend of Pirate-Themed Events
The Children’s Gasparilla will feature a variety of activities tailored for the littlest buccaneers, including a Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Rodeo, a Preschoolers’ Stroll, and a spectacular nighttime air invasion complete with a dazzling fireworks show.
The main Gasparilla Pirate Fest on January 31 will showcase the 107th Gasparilla Invasion and Parade of Pirates, presented by Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. The invasion kicks off at 11:30 a.m. as the iconic José Gasparilla ship sails into Hillsborough Bay, leading a flotilla of pirate ships to dock at the Tampa Convention Center by 1 p.m.
Following the invasion, the 4.5-mile Parade of Pirates will wind through downtown Tampa, offering public viewing along Bay to Bay Boulevard, Gunby and Platt Streets, and throughout the city.
