Tragic Murder of 14-Year-Old Florida Girl: Two Teenagers in Custody

Tragic Discovery: Florida Teen Found Murdered and Set on Fire; Two Suspects in Custody

PACE, Fla. – In a shocking turn of events, two teenagers have been taken into custody following the tragic murder of 14-year-old Danika Troy, whose body was discovered off Kimberly Road in Pace. Authorities report that Troy was shot multiple times and subsequently set on fire, a crime that has left the community reeling.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson revealed that Danika was reported missing by her mother early on December 1. Tragically, it was later confirmed that she had been murdered the night before. “Unfortunately, for her mother, Danika was murdered the previous night,” Johnson stated during a press conference on Thursday.

The grim discovery was made on December 2 when a passerby spotted Troy’s remains and alerted law enforcement. Investigators quickly identified two suspects: 16-year-old Gabriel Williams and 14-year-old Kimahri Blevins. Sheriff Johnson described the investigation as a “ground ball,” indicating that evidence pointed to the suspects almost immediately.

According to Johnson, Williams allegedly stole his mother’s handgun and used it to shoot Troy. Both suspects are currently being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice, facing premeditated first-degree murder charges.

“This is a horrific crime,” Johnson said, expressing disbelief at the nature of the act. “It’s bad enough you kill a 14-year-old. You’re 14. You’re 16. Shoot her multiple times, and then they set her on fire.”

The sheriff noted that the victim and the suspects were acquainted, having known each other from school. However, the motive behind the brutal killing remains unclear. Johnson mentioned that while the suspects have been interviewed, their explanations do not align with the forensic evidence collected.

As the investigation continues, Sheriff Johnson emphasized the need for justice. “We’re going to be working with the State Attorney’s Office to hopefully get these individuals charged as adults,” he stated. “You do an adult crime. You need to do adult time.”

The community is left grappling with the loss of a young life, as authorities work diligently to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
