A sprawling estate on the shores of Lake Thonotosassa, just outside Tampa, is set to hit the market for a staggering $23.6 million. This luxurious property features a 900-square-foot replica of the Oval Office, complete with a copy of the Resolute Desk and annual decorations of official White House ornaments.
Built in 2012 by the late healthcare entrepreneur Tom Simpson and his wife, June, the custom-designed estate spans 22 acres and reflects the couple’s passions for American history, Major League Baseball, and music. “It was just something he wanted,” June told the Wall Street Journal. “It made him happy.”
The Simpsons, who sold their company Health Advocates for $83 million in 2006, acquired the Thonotosassa land in stages beginning around 2008. The couple invested approximately $18 million to create a deeply personal space that showcases Tom’s extensive memorabilia collections.
Among the standout features is a baseball-themed room, complete with a custom rug designed like a diamond, vintage Yankee Stadium seats, and display cases for Tom’s Atlanta Braves memorabilia. This room, which cost about $150,000 to build, was a popular gathering spot for events, often hosting 30 to 40 guests.
The estate also boasts a “Walk of Fame” hallway showcasing signed guitars from iconic performers like The Beach Boys and Aerosmith, along with plaques honoring celebrities the couple met, including Tom Hanks and Lady Gaga. An indoor lagoon with a waterfall adds to the property’s allure, having hosted a variety of events, including a dramatic Navy SEAL reenactment.
Following Tom’s passing in 2024 at the age of 79 due to Parkinson’s disease, June has decided to sell the estate. “Walking through this house, as beautiful as it is, it’s got so many wonderful memories, but I just can’t do it,” she shared.
The property features six bedroom suites, 12 bathrooms, and can be purchased in its entirety or in two separate parcels: $18.9 million for the main residence on 14 acres and $4.7 million for the remaining 8 acres, which include a barn and greenhouse.
If sold at the asking price, this estate could surpass Tampa’s current record residential sale of $22.5 million, previously held by baseball legend Derek Jeter. As luxury real estate deals in the region pick up, affluent buyers are increasingly paying cash for properties amid market volatility.
