STARKE, Fla. — In a chilling conclusion to a decades-long saga, Glen Rogers, a 62-year-old man once scrutinized for a possible connection to the infamous O.J. Simpson case, was executed Thursday at Florida State Prison. Rogers received a lethal injection for the 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two, whose body was discovered in a Tampa motel room.
Rogers, who was also sentenced to death in California for the strangulation of Sandra Gallagher, had a history of violence that spanned multiple states. He was apprehended following a highway chase in Kentucky while driving Cribbs’ car shortly after her death.
In his final moments, Rogers expressed gratitude to his wife during a visit earlier that day. He cryptically stated, “in the near future, your questions will be answered,” before adding, “President Trump, keep making America great. I’m ready to go.” The execution, which lasted just 16 minutes, was marked by a brief moment of concern when a staff member shook him to check for consciousness.
Rogers was a suspect in several other murders across the country and once claimed to have killed around 70 people, a statement he later recanted. His life and crimes were the subject of various documentaries, including the 2012 film “My Brother the Serial Killer,” which raised questions about his potential involvement in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. However, the Los Angeles Police Department dismissed any connection, affirming their belief in Simpson’s guilt.
The U.S. Supreme Court denied Rogers’ final appeals just a day before his execution, rejecting arguments that his traumatic childhood should warrant a life sentence instead of death. Florida’s lethal injection protocol employs a three-drug cocktail designed to sedate, paralyze, and ultimately stop the heart.
Rogers became the fifth inmate executed in Florida this year, with Anthony Wainwright next in line, scheduled for execution on June 10 for the 1994 kidnapping and murder of a woman in Lake City.
