Experts recommend Washington Commanders to add Super Bowl-winning wide receiver in free agency

Washington Commanders Expected to Be Aggressive in Free Agency, Eyeing Chris Godwin

The Washington Commanders are making waves in the NFL offseason as they gear up to be one of the most aggressive teams in free agency. With the most cap space among any NFC teams, the Commanders are poised to make some big moves.

ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz believes that the Commanders could be a potential landing spot for Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin. Schatz points out that while Terry McLaurin is a standout outside wide receiver, most of Washington’s receivers are free agents in 2025. Adding a strong slot receiver like Godwin could provide a boost to the team’s offense.

Godwin had an impressive season before suffering a left ankle injury, racking up 576 yards and five touchdowns in just seven games. He ranked fifth among all qualifying wide receivers in ESPN’s receiver tracking metrics. With three straight 1,000-yard campaigns under his belt, Godwin could be a valuable addition to the Commanders’ receiving corps.

Fans will have to wait until the new league year begins on Wednesday, March 12, to see if Godwin officially signs with the Commanders. In the meantime, stay tuned to CommanderGameday and the Locked On Commanders podcast for more coverage of the team’s offseason moves.
