Massive Fire Destroys Cody’s Original Roadhouse in Tampa, Community Mourns Loss

Cody’s Original Roadhouse in Tampa, a beloved community staple, was left in ruins after an early morning fire on Thursday. The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to calls around 5:15 a.m. and found the restaurant engulfed in flames. Despite their efforts to contain the fire, the building’s structural integrity began to deteriorate, forcing firefighters to switch to a defensive operation.

As thick smoke billowed into the air, onlookers watched in disbelief as the restaurant they had known and loved for years was reduced to ashes. Former employees like Lucas Amaro reminisced about the family-like atmosphere at Cody’s and the memories made within its walls.

The community gathered in the parking lot, sharing stories of their experiences at Cody’s and expressing their sadness over the loss. Shannon Green, whose daughter worked as a hostess at the restaurant, spoke of the special place Cody’s held in their hearts.

Despite the devastation, Cody’s Original Roadhouse remains committed to rebuilding and serving the community once again. In a social media post, the business thanked first responders and vowed to come back “bigger and better than before.”

As the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, the community mourns the loss of a beloved establishment but remains hopeful for the future.
