Los Angeles Chargers Playoff Preview: Potential Offseason Moves to Watch
The Los Angeles Chargers are gearing up for a playoff showdown with the Houston Texans this Saturday, but despite their success this season, the team is already looking ahead to the offseason.
In Jim Harbaugh’s first season as head coach, the Chargers finished with an impressive 11-6 record and have a promising future ahead. However, one glaring issue that needs to be addressed is the lack of playmakers surrounding quarterback Justin Herbert.
Aside from Ladd McConkey, Herbert has been limited in terms of offensive weapons this season, which is not surprising given the departure of key offensive talent last offseason. With ample cap room to work with in free agency, the Chargers are also considering exploring the trade market for upgrades.
One intriguing name that could be available this offseason is Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts. Despite not quite living up to the hype after a stellar rookie campaign, Pitts still managed to put up solid numbers this season. Pairing him with Herbert could potentially elevate him to one of the top tight ends in the league once again.
Given Atlanta’s apparent dissatisfaction with Pitts, the Chargers may have a good chance of landing him without giving up too much in return. While Will Dissly has been solid, Pitts’ potential ceiling is much higher, making him a worthwhile gamble for Los Angeles.
If things don’t pan out, the Chargers can simply let Pitts walk in free agency next year. In the meantime, fans will be eagerly watching to see if this potential move comes to fruition and how it could impact the team’s future success.
