Buccaneers Secure Narrow Victory Against Cardinals: A Game of Ups and Downs
Buccaneers Hold Off Cardinals in Nail-Biter, 20-17
TAMPA, FLORIDA – November 30, 2025 – In a thrilling showdown at Raymond James Stadium, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to edge out the Arizona Cardinals 20-17, marking a much-needed victory for a team that had struggled in recent weeks.
The game kicked off with the Buccaneers receiving the ball first but failing to capitalize, resulting in a mere first down before punting. The Cardinals, however, showcased their offensive prowess early on, driving deep into Tampa territory. Yet, a crucial interception by Antoine Winfield Jr., set up by Jamel Dean’s tip, thwarted Arizona’s scoring attempt, leaving the first quarter scoreless at 0-0.
As the second quarter unfolded, the Buccaneers finally found their rhythm. After a series of efficient runs and a deep connection with Chris Godwin, they entered the red zone. However, a dropped pass forced them to settle for a short field goal, putting them ahead 3-0.
Just before the two-minute warning, Tampa Bay appeared to score their first touchdown, only for it to be nullified by an offensive pass interference call. Undeterred, the Buccaneers regrouped and executed a clever play-action pass, resulting in a touchdown for offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs—his first career catch and score—extending the lead to 10-0.
But the Cardinals were not to be outdone. After a timeout called by Buccaneers’ head coach Todd Bowles, Arizona’s Jacoby Brissett connected on a critical third down, leading to a field goal that narrowed the gap to 10-3.
The second half began with a mix of turnovers and missed opportunities. A fumble by Arizona’s Bam Knight was recovered by the Buccaneers, but Tampa’s offense struggled to capitalize, punting the ball back to the Cardinals. A missed field goal by Arizona further squandered their chances, allowing the Buccaneers to regain momentum.
Baker Mayfield and the Bucs’ offense finally found their stride, with a series of successful plays culminating in a touchdown run by Bucky Irving, who redeemed himself after an earlier penalty. The score swelled to 17-3, but the Cardinals quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, bringing the score to 17-10.
As the game progressed, the tension mounted. The Buccaneers managed to add a field goal, pushing their lead to 20-10, but the Cardinals answered back with another touchdown, narrowing the score to 20-17.
With just minutes left on the clock, the Buccaneers’ defense faced a crucial moment. Under pressure, they managed to hold off the Cardinals, securing the victory and allowing Tampa Bay to maintain their slim lead in the NFC South.
This win not only boosts the Buccaneers’ morale but also provides a much-needed spark as they look to turn their season around. Coach Todd Bowles and his squad will hope to build on this momentum in the weeks to come.
