Seven Floridians Arrested in International Child Sexual Abuse Case

TAMPA, Fla. — In a shocking revelation, authorities announced on Monday in Tampa that seven Floridians were among the eight individuals arrested in connection with an international child sexual abuse case. The arrests were made as part of a joint effort by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Attorney General’s office.

During a press conference, FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass and Attorney General James Uthmeier revealed the details of the case, which involved the distribution and sale of child pornography on a global scale. The alleged ringleader, Mehmet Bozuyuk of Turkey, and Ximena Del Real Maqueda of Portland, Oregon, are currently at large with outstanding warrants for their arrest.

The suspects, who face charges including RICO, money laundering, and purchase of child pornography, could potentially face lengthy prison sentences if convicted. The investigation uncovered a disturbing network of individuals who were selling and purchasing videos depicting sexual abuse of minors, including victims of human trafficking and sexual battery.

Uthmeier described the content as “some of the most egregious, disgusting material” he had ever seen, with many of the victims being babies. The suspects reportedly accessed the illegal material through platforms like TikTok, where they could purchase the content for as little as $100.

FDLE Special Agent in Charge Mark Brutnell provided insight into the investigation, which began in July 2024 and led to the discovery of a website with over 1.2 million videos and images of child sexual abuse. The agency worked tirelessly to shut down the website and track down the individuals involved in the ring.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable and ensuring that justice is served for the victims. The investigation is ongoing, with additional links to Canada, Ireland, and other regions being explored.

The full press conference, which includes more details on the case, can be viewed online. Viewer discretion is advised due to the sensitive nature of the content discussed.
