New Port Richey, FL — In a significant move to address the growing demand for affordable housing, Fort Lauderdale-based development firm Alexander Goshen has announced plans for a new mixed-income multifamily community, Walden Pond, in New Port Richey. The $30 million project, developed in partnership with Avanti Residential, is slated to break ground in the first quarter of 2026, pending final approvals from local authorities.

Located on nearly nine acres just west of U.S. Highway 19, the site of a former mobile home park will soon be home to 125 thoughtfully designed rental apartments. The community will feature a diverse mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, emphasizing environmental sustainability and community connection.

The design of Walden Pond includes three four-story residential buildings with ground-level parking, incorporating flood-resilient features informed by the historic storm surge of October 2024. Planned amenities will enhance community interaction and well-being, including a dog park, pickleball court, children’s playground, and landscaped open spaces.

Financed through HUD and other state and local sources, Walden Pond aims to meet the increasing demand for workforce housing in the Tampa Bay region, showcasing the power of public-private collaboration.
