Tragic High-Speed Crash in Tampa Claims Four Lives, Injures Thirteen
TAMPA, Fla. — A devastating early morning incident in Tampa has left four people dead and thirteen others injured after a driver lost control of a vehicle while speeding, crashing into a local business and striking multiple pedestrians. The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, shocking the community and prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
According to police reports, the vehicle involved had previously been observed engaging in street racing in the area. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the driver, identified as 22-year-old Silas Sampson, sped off I-275 before exiting at a high rate of speed. Despite attempts by police to perform a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle, the driver continued on, ultimately crashing into the business and hitting more than a dozen people.
Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth succumbed to injuries at a local hospital. Among the injured, two individuals remain in critical condition, while others have been treated and released or are listed as stable.
“The tragedy that unfolded this morning is senseless,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the victims and all those affected by this horrific event.”
