PBR Tampa: A Thrilling Return to the Sunshine State
Tampa, FL – The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Unleash The Beast season is making a highly anticipated return to Tampa, Florida, for the first time in 13 years. Following a fierce two-day showdown in Milwaukee, the world’s top bull riders are set to clash at the Benchmark International Arena for the sixth stop of the season, igniting excitement among fans and competitors alike.
Action kicks off on Friday, January 23, at 7:45 p.m. ET, and continues on Saturday, January 24, at the same time, culminating in a championship round. Fans can catch all the action live on Paramount+ starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Stakes Are High
This weekend’s event is particularly crucial as it marks the second competition following the first rider cut of the season. Riders ranked in the bottom six after Tampa will be eliminated from the elite tour, making this a make-or-break moment for many. Dalton Kasel, fresh off a victory in Milwaukee, is just two points behind world No. 1 Julio Cesar Marques, while Koltin Hevalow aims to break into the Top 10 after a narrow miss in his last outing.
With another standings shake-up on the horizon, Tampa is a pivotal battleground for riders striving to maintain their positions or earn a coveted call-up from the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour.
Surviving the Cut
The pressure is palpable as riders ranked No. 36–40 were recently cut from the Unleash The Beast roster following the New York City event. The top five Velocity Global riders have stepped in to fill their spots, intensifying the competition. Those riding on an exemption basis must perform exceptionally well in Tampa to avoid being dropped in the next cut.
Monster Energy Team Challenge Returns
Adding to the excitement, the Monster Energy Team Challenge is back, featuring high-stakes 4-on-4 matchups. Teams will battle it out for playoff spots, with the Missouri Thunder facing off against the Oklahoma Wildcatters and the Texas Rattlers taking on the Florida Freedom. Each win is crucial as teams vie for a place in the METC Championship Tournament later this spring.
Rematch Recap
Round 1 in Tampa promises thrilling rematches as riders seek redemption against some of the toughest bulls in the game. Dalton Kasel will face off against Nightmare for the third time, while Brady Fielder and Grayson Cole look to flip the script against their respective opponents. Former World Champion Kaique Pacheco is also set for a rematch with Rocket Man, aiming for a much-needed ride amid injury challenges.
With rivalries reignited and standings on the line, Tampa is poised to deliver more than just sunshine; it’s set to serve up second chances and unforgettable moments in the world of bull riding.
